BEARS RALLY FOR GAME 3 OVERTIME WIN TUESDAY IN ALBANY

April 27, 2010

The BEARS rallied from three different deficits Tuesday night, and won in overtime 6-5 to move within a single victory of the Eastern Conference Finals. It didn’t start well for the BEARS on Tuesday, as Zac Dalpe and Oskar Osala scored inside of the first five minutes of the first period to give Albany a 2-0 lead after the first. Ashton Rome got HERSHEY on the board in the second with his second goal of the series and the postseason, a finisher off a shot from Francois Bouchard. Albany then regained a two-goal advantage when Drayson Bowman scored from the bottom of the left circle past Braden Holtby to make the score 3-1 at the 11:22 mark. HERSHEY, as they have all postseason, rallied with two goals to get the game tied before second intermission. Andrew Gordon scored his ninth of the playoffs at 13:58, and Chris Bourque picked up his first of the postseason at 15:41. The teams went to the dressing room after two periods tied at 3-3. Albany would begin the third period on a five-minute major power play, and took a 4-3 lead when Dalpe picked up his second of the game at 2:22. Bourque then countered with his second of the night, and did it short-handed, at 3:56. With the score tied at 4-4, Mike Angelidis scored his second goal of the playoffs at 6:37 to again give the Rats the lead. But HERSHEY would not be denied. Alexandre Giroux would strike late in regulation at 16:14 to tie the game, and Jay Beagle would deliver the game-winner in overtime at 16:08. The BEARS won the game to take a commanding three games to none lead in the series, with Game 4 coming up Thursday night. BEARS Radio Network Three Stars of the game: 1. Jay Beagle (Game-winning goal in overtime) 2. Bears defense (Five guys banding together in the third and OT, just heroic) 3. Chris Bourque (First two goals of the postseason) Notes: HERSHEY will try for a four-game series sweep on Thursday, facing the River Rats in Game 4 of the best-of-seven East Division Finals at Times Union Center. Should a Game 5 be needed in the series, it would be at Giant Center this Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. Defenseman Bryan Helmer picked up a five-minute spearing penalty and a game misconduct at the 20:00 mark of the second period. The BEARS played with five defenseman the rest of the way. The game was delayed 11 minutes in the overtime when a pane of glass shattered, the third time this postseason that a game HERSHEY has been involved in has had such a delay.
