FALCONS FLY PAST BEARS SATURDAY 5-4

March 13, 2010

The BEARS battled to get a standings point Saturday night, but fall to the Springfield Falcons 5-4 in a shootout at Mass Mutual Center. Springfield rose to the occasion in the first period Saturday, scoring three unanswered after Alexandre Giroux scored his 36th goal of the season at 2:12. Charles Linglet started the scoring with his 19th of the season at 4:43 to tie the game, setting the stage for former BEARS defenseman Dean Arsene. Arsene scored his first goal of the season with a shot from the top of the left circle at 5:22. The Falcons then added to the lead with another former HERSHEY skater getting in on the action. Chad Wiseman, who played for the BEARS during 2006-07, scored his 19th goal of the season at 13:34. Springfield took a 3-1 lead to the dressing room after one, firing 16 first period shots at Braden Holtby. The BEARS managed just two shots on net against Springfield backstop J.P. Levasseur. HERSHEY’S Andrew Gordon opened the second period scoring Saturday night, picking up his 31st goal of the season at 3:48. Springfield again jumped ahead by two with Wiseman’s second of the game at 15:06, but Massachusetts native Keith Aucoin potted his 32nd of the season at 17:43 with an assist to Patrick Wellar. The BEARS, even with goals from all three members of its top line, trailed 4-3 heading to the third. The BEARS would earn a point, but ultimately succumb to the Falcons in the shootout. Steve Pinizzotto scored his second short-handed goal in as many nights to tie the game at 4-4. Neither team would score through the rest of the third and overtime, and the Falcons won a six-round shootout. HERSHEY plays at Worcester Sunday afternoon at 4:05 p.m. BEARS Radio Network Three Stars of the game: 1. Chad Wiseman (Former Bears forward scores two goals) 2.
