BEARS ACQUIRE DEFENSEMAN GRANT LEWIS FROM CHICAGO WOLVES
FORMER SECOND ROUND PICK IN NHL ENTRY DRAFT AND PENNSYLVANIA NATIVE JOINS DEFENDING CALDER CUP CHAMPIONS
HERSHEY â€" The 2009 Calder Cup Champion HERSHEY BEARS announced today that defenseman Grant Lewis has been reassigned by the NHL’s Atlanta Thrashers from the Chicago Wolves (AHL) to HERSHEY. The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.
Lewis, 25, was a second round selection, 40th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Thrashers. He has played in 123 games in the American Hockey League, all with Chicago. Lewis made his NHL debut with Atlanta on March 3, 2009 against the Florida Panthers.
A native of Upper St. Clair, PA, Lewis is expected to be available this weekend when HERSHEY begins a four-game road trip in Glens Falls, NY. Lewis will wear number five with the BEARS.
The BEARS will begin a four-game road trip Friday in Adirondack against the Phantoms at 7:30 p.m. HERSHEY’S next home game is Friday, March 19 against the Albany River Rats at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at the
