47 AND COUNTING: BEARS THUMP TIGERS 6-3 TUESDAY

March 2, 2010

For the second time in less than a week, the BEARS dropped the offensive hammer on the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, winning 6-3 Tuesday at the Arena at Harbor Yard. Alexandre Giroux scored his 31st goal of the season to lead off the scoring for the visitors Tuesday, scoring on a shot from the top of the right circle at 12:06. Steve Pinizzotto then scored his 10th goal of the season on a terrific one-man effort up the right wing. Pinizzotto scored his goal unassisted at 18:37 to give the Chocolate and White a 2-0 lead. The Sound Tigers put nine shots on HERSHEY goaltender Michal Neuvirth in the first 20 minutes, with Bridgeport’s Scott Munroe stopping six of eight. The offense, already sparking the BEARS to an early lead in the first, really caught fire in the second. Giroux scored his second of the game and 32nd of the season at 1:17. Andrew Gordon then picked up his 29th goal of the campaign at 6:13 from Giroux and Jay Beagle to make the score 4-1 HERSHEY. Just 18 seconds later, Francois Bouchard scored his 17th goal of the year from John Carlson and Oskar Osala to make the score 5-1. Less than a minute later at 7:14, Chris Bourque scored his 19th of the year from Karl Alzner and Pinizzotto to run Munroe from the game and make the score 6-1. Greg Mauldin would score his 21st goal of the season late in the period to cut the lead to 6-2. The only goal of the third period was put home by Jake Gannon, his first lamp-lighter of the season. The win is HERSHEY’S 47th of the season, and the team collected points number 95 and 96 with the triumph. BEARS Radio Network Three Stars of the game: 1. Alexandre Giroux (Two goals, three points) 2.
