Capitals Recall Quintin Laing, Tyler Sloan and Semyon Varlamov from
Hershey Bears
ARLINGTON, Va. â€" The Washington Capitals have recalled left wing Quinin Laing, defenseman Tyler Sloan and goaltender Semyon Varlamov from the
Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today. All three had been assigned to the Bears on Saturday; Laing and Sloan were on conditioning stints.
Varlamov, 21, is 12-2-2 with the Capitals this season, posting a 2.44 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage. He has played three games in Hershey this season, all wins, with a 1.95 GAA and a .933 save percentage. Yesterday he stopped 30 of 31 shots in a 2-1 shootout win against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. He recently represented Russia at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, but did not see action.
Laing, 30, has played 28 games for the Capitals this season, scoring two goals. Sloan, 29, has recorded two goals and two assists in 33 games for the Capitals. Both Laing and Sloan played two games with the Bears this weekend. Sloan had one assist and was +3.
