HERSHEY rallied from two goals down Wednesday to defeat the Lake Erie Monsters 3-2 in a shootout at Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland.
Tom Preissing opened the scoring for the Monsters with a power play goal in the first two minutes of the first period. The power play goal put the BEARS down 1-0. Late in the first, with just 4.6 seconds left, Lake Erie forward Philippe Dupris snapped a turnover past HERSHEY goaltender Jason Bacashihua for his 13th goal of the season. The Chocolate and White went to first intermission down 2-0.
Greg Amadio scored the only goal of the second period Wednesday, and would do so short-handed to cut Lake Erie’s lead to 2-1. Amadio put home a rebound of an Andrew Joudrey right circle shot to cut the home team’s lead in half. Into the third, Chris Bourque would tie the game with a right wing wrister past Monsters goaltender Billy Sauer. Neither team would score the rest of regulation or overtime, forcing HERSHEY’s fifth shootout of the season. Alexandre Giroux would be the only player in 10 skaters to score, giving the BEARS win number 44 of the season.
BEARS Radio Network Three Stars of the game:

Notes: HERSHEY became the first team in the American Hockey League this season to reach the 90-point plateau with Wednesday’s win. The game began at 10:45 a.m. eastern time as Lake Erie hosted nearly 10,000 school children from across the greater Cleveland Area for an event titled “Education Day”. Bacashihua now has three wins in HERSHEY’S last three games dating back to a win over the Monsters at
Giant Center last Saturday. The BEARS take on the Toronto Marlies Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. at Ricoh Coliseum.
