Fresh off setting a new American Hockey League record for consecutive home victories, the BEARS hit the road Wednesday to play the Lake Erie Monsters in downtown Cleveland. Face-off is at 10:45 a.m.
HERSHEY defeated the Albany River Rats 5-3 Sunday, the team’s 20th consecutive win on home ice dating back to November 29. Francois Bouchard scored two goals and earned number one star honors. Goaltender Jason Bacashihua, who came on in relief of Braden Holtby, made 11 saves to earn the win.
For Bacashihua, it was his second win in as many games, after defeating Lake Erie on Saturday night. Bacashihua is expected to draw the start Wednesday morning in Cleveland against the team he played for the last two seasons. HERSHEY defeated the Monsters at
Giant Center Saturday 4-1.
The puck will drop for Wednesday’s game at 10:45 a.m. The Monsters are hosting thousands of Cleveland-area school children for the game, prompting the morning start time. The game for the Chocolate and White is the first of three road games this week. The BEARS will play in Toronto Thursday night before hosting Bridgeport at
Giant Center Saturday evening. Mark French’s team will conclude a four games in five nights stretch Sunday at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Around the AHL on Wednesday, Syracuse is in Adirondack to play the Phantoms at 7:00 p.m. Abbotsford is in Bridgeport at the Arena at Harbor Yard, and San Antonio plays in Grand Rapids. Springfield travels to Manchester to play the Monarchs at Verizon Wireless Arena Wednesday, while Norfolk takes on Binghamton at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena, Portland is at Worcester, and Toronto is in Hamilton to play the Bulldogs.
Wednesday’s game can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (100.1 FM and www.Sportsjuice.com) beginning at 10:25 a.m. John Walton has the call of the action from the Buckeye state.
