BEARS RETURN TO EAST DIVISION RACE FRIDAY AT HOME

January 22, 2010

HERSHEY gets back to action Friday night, hosting the Manitoba Moose at Giant Center at 7:00 p.m. Winners of 14 of its last 15 games heading into the four-day All-Star break, the BEARS possess the AHL’s best record at 32-9-0-2. HERSHEY also has the biggest lead of any first place team in the circuit, a 16-point bulge over second place Albany and a 24-point advantage over third place Adirondack. Manitoba, who lost two games to HERSHEY earlier this month at MTS Centre, enters action Friday night with points in seven of its last 10 games. The Moose trail the Hamilton Bulldogs by eight points in the North Division standings. The Moose visit Giant Center Friday for the first time since the 2009 Calder Cup Finals, a series the BEARS claimed four games to two this past June. 12 other games are on the AHL docket Friday, including Bridgeport at Albany, Toronto at Grand Rapids, Manchester at Hartford and Adirondack visits Binghamton in an East Division clash. Lowell travels to Providence Friday night to take on the Bruins, while Hamilton visits Rochester, Texas travels to Lake Erie to face the Monsters in Cleveland, Norfolk travels to Springfield to begin a swing through New England, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton is at Syracuse, Chicago skates at Milwaukee, Rockford heads down state to play Peoria, and Houston is out west in Abbotsford to play the Heat in British Columbia. Friday’s game can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (100.1 FM and www.Sportsjuice.com) beginning at 6:40 p.m. John Walton, Ed Coffey and Jim Jones have the call of the action from Giant Center.
