HERSHEY is one win away from establishing a new franchise record for consecutive victories as the team plays the second game of a two-game series in Winnipeg Saturday night. The BEARS play the Manitoba Moose at MTS Centre Saturday in the second game of a four-game road trip, looking for its 12th consecutive triumph.
A close game was the story Friday night, as the Chocolate and White edged out Manitoba 2-1 in a shootout in downtown Winnipeg. Andrew Gordon provided the only goal in regulation, his 17th of the year, and goaltender Braden Holtby improved his record to 10-1-1 with the victory. Holtby was named the game’s number one star, allowing just one goal as the BEARS won in a seven-round shootout.
With the win Friday, the BEARS tied a franchise record, set just last season, for consecutive wins. No HERSHEY team has ever won 12 regular season games in a row. Friday’s victory over the Moose lifted Mark French’s team to 20 games over the .500 mark with the halfway point of the season approaching Wednesday night in Norfolk.
