BEARS LOOKING FOR A PIECE OF HISTORY FRIDAY NIGHT

January 7, 2010

HERSHEY will look to tie a franchise record for consecutive victories while making the long trek north of the border to Winnipeg Friday night. It’s the BEARS and Manitoba Moose in the beginning of a two-game series at MTS Centre, a rematch of last June’s Calder Cup Final. The BEARS enter play Friday winners of 10 straight after a 4-1 win over Adirondack this past Sunday at Giant Center. With a 14-point lead and a game in hand on second place Albany, HERSHEY can tie and eclipse the team’s franchise record for consecutive wins with four points in downtown Winnipeg. Goaltender Braden Holtby is expected to draw the start Friday night. HERSHEY’S blue line got a huge boost this week, when Karl Alzner was assigned from Washington Wednesday. John Carlson, who scored the game-winning goal in overtime of Team USA’s 6-5 victory over Canada Tuesday night, is expected to rejoin the team in Winnipeg and be available for Mark French’s club. Friday’s game can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (100.1 FM and www.Sportsjuice.com) beginning at 8:10 p.m. John Walton has the call of the action from MTS Centre in Winnipeg.
