BEARS DOWN SOUTH FOR 2009 FINALE TUESDAY

December 29, 2009

HERSHEY wraps up 2009 on Tuesday night, facing the Norfolk Admirals at Norfolk Scope at 7:15 p.m. The game, the fifth of ten meetings this season between the two clubs, marks the first time the BEARS will play in Hampton Roads in 2009-10. The BEARS are looking Tuesday for its seventh consecutive victory following a 7-1 thrashing of the Admirals Sunday at Giant Center. HERSHEY’S win on Sunday coupled with an Albany River Rats defeat puts the Chocolate and White nine points up on its closest East Division pursuer heading into Tuesday’s action, the largest lead of the season to date. Mark French’s team also boasts the American Hockey League’s best winning percentage and three of the AHL’s five top scorers (Keith Aucoin, Alexandre Giroux and Andrew Gordon). The game between the BEARS and Admirals is the only game Tuesday featuring East Division clubs, but there are five other games on the docket around the AHL. The Peoria Rivermen visit Lake Erie Tuesday, while Providence plays at Springfield and Manchester travels to Worcester to face the Sharks at the DCU Center. Rockford is at Milwaukee Tuesday at the Bradley Center, and Syracuse plays in Austin against the Texas Stars. Tuesday’s game can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (100.1 FM and www.Sportsjuice.com) beginning at 6:55 p.m. John Walton has the call from downtown Norfolk.
