BEARS SINK ADMIRALS Hershey Keeps Rolling with Six Straight Wins By Jess Mikula Six different BEARS skaters combined for seven goals Sunday night, as HERSHEY downed the Norfolk Admirals 7-1. The win marked the BEARS’ seventh consecutive home victory and sixth straight win overall. Keith Aucoin opened scoring midway through the first period, as he was awarded a penalty shot after being hooked down in front of Norfolk netminder Dustin Tokarski. Aucoin deked Tokarski before netting the puck for his 15th of the year at 10:48. The BEARS carried a one-goal advantage to the dressing room after 20 minutes. The Chocolate and White struck three more times in the second period. Aucoin found his second of the night from Alexandre Giroux and Andrew Gordon at 5:13. Patrick Wellar notched his first goal of the season with a 4-on-4 marker at 8:17, assisted by Aucoin and Zach Miskovic. Greg Amadio potted a wrister from the right circle for his first of the year at 10:27. Chris Bourque and Mathieu Perreault added the helpers. BEARS backstop Braden Holtby gave up Norfolk’s lone goal of Sunday night’s contest late in the period, as Mark Parrish found a short side tally at 18:55. HERSHEY led the visiting Admirals 4-1 after two. The BEARS added three additional goals in the final period. Bryan Helmer fired a one timer from Patrick McNeill and Perreault for his second goal of the year at 2:49. Bourque fired a cross-ice pass to Francois Bouchard, setting up the BEARS’ sixth goal of the night at 13:30. Miskovic registered the secondary assist on Bouchard’s 10th of the season. Boyd Kane closed out scoring for HERSHEY, potting his 13th goal of the season at 17:54, from Kyle Wilson and Boyd Gordon. Holtby earned his seventh win in net and his second in as many nights Sunday, turning aside 28 of 29 shots. The BEARS power play went 1-for-3, while the penalty kill blanked Norfolk on all four opportunities. Bears Radio Network Three Stars of the Game: 1. Keith Aucoin (two goals and an assist) 2. HERSHEY will travel to Norfolk on Tuesday, Dec. 29, for a 7:15 p.m. start before opening 2010 in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Friday, Jan. 1, with a 7:05 p.m. face-off. The Chocolate and White will play its first home game of 2010 on Saturday, Jan. 2, when the Binghamton Senators come to town.
