HERSHEY plays its final road game before a five-day break for Christmas Friday night, squaring off with the Rochester Americans at Blue Cross Arena. The game is the second of three in a row between the two first place clubs. Face-off in western New York is at 7:05 p.m.
The BEARS cling to first place in the East Division heading into three games in three nights this weekend, looking to hold off the hard charging Albany River Rats. Albany is in Lowell Friday night having taken points in nine straight games including eight wins. HERSHEY has 38 points heading into Friday’s matchup in Rochester, one better than the River Rats, but the Chocolate and White also have two games in hand on their closest pursuers in the division race.
Rochester, who fell to the BEARS at
Giant Center 6-2 this past Saturday night, maintains a four-point edge over second place Hamilton in the North Division standings. At 20-7-1-0, the Americans have the third-best point total in the American Hockey League, but is just 5-5-0-0 in its last 10 games. The visit by HERSHEY marks the 436th time during regular season play the two teams have played one another. The Amerks will return to
Giant Center Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. The BEARS will also visit western New York on April 2 to conclude the season series.
Friday’s game can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (100.1 FM and www.Sportsjuice.com) beginning at 6:45 p.m. John Walton has the call of the action from downtown Rochester.
