BEARS BACK IN ALBANY FRIDAY TO FACE RATS

December 11, 2009

For the second straight Friday, the BEARS are in Albany, New York to face the River Rats at Times Union Center. Face-off is at 7:00 p.m. HERSHEY goes into Friday’s game with the River Rats with a slightly changed roster from the team that fell 3-1 at Times Union Center seven days ago. Goaltender Michal Neuvirth is currently on recall to Washington, and the BEARS assigned defenseman Dylan Yeo back to South Carolina after practice Thursday. The Chocolate and White also got an injection of offense on Thursday, getting Alexandre Giroux and Keith Aucoin back from the Capitals. Both are expected to play Friday in Albany. The BEARS enter action Friday in first place in the East Division, five points ahead of second place Albany with a game in hand, and nine points ahead of third place Binghamton. HERSHEY has the fourth best point total in the AHL heading into weekend action. Texas, the first-year entry out of Austin, has a league best 40 points as play starts Friday night. Around the AHL on Friday, Lake Erie plays at Grand Rapids, Portland is at Hartford and Chicago skates at Toronto against the Marlies. Lowell travels to Providence to face the Bruins at Dunkin Donuts Center, while Abbotsford is at Rochester, Binghamton heads to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Manitoba is in Norfolk for the first-time ever at 7:15 p.m., Worcester is at Manchester, and Bridgeport plays at Springfield. Elsewhere, Adirondack is in Syracuse, San Antonio plays at Milwaukee, Rockford is at Texas and Peoria plays at Houston. Friday’s game can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (100.1 FM and www.Sportsjuice.com) beginning at 6:40 p.m. John Walton has the call of the action.
