BEARS AND RIVER RATS MEET FRIDAY IN NEW YORK

December 3, 2009

HERSHEY travels to New York’s Capital District for the first time this season Friday night, taking on the Albany River Rats at Times Union Center. Face-off is at 7:00 p.m. The BEARS enter play Friday in first place in the East Division, seven points ahead of the club’s closest pursuer. The seven points represents the largest lead the Chocolate and White has enjoyed to date in 2009-10. HERSHEY’S roster was tweaked a bit this week, with Jay Beagle returning from Washington and forward Trevor Bruess heading to South Carolina (ECHL). Albany begins play Friday night tied for second place in the East Division, seven back of the BEARS and tied with the Binghamton Senators. The six teams behind HERSHEY in the standings are separated by just six points heading into the first weekend in December. Around the AHL on Friday, the Phantoms return to Philadelphia, albeit for one night. Adirondack hosts a home game Friday at the Wachovia Center against the Norfolk Admirals, while Rockford visits Grand Rapids, Bridgeport is at Lowell and Providence is at Portland. Elsewhere, Syracuse travels to Binghamton to face the Senators, Toronto is at Hamilton, Hartford is at Manchester, Worcester is in Springfield to play the Falcons at Mass Mutual Center, Texas is at Milwaukee, Manitoba is south of the border to play in Peoria, while Houston is at San Antonio and Lake Erie is at Chicago. Friday’s game can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (100.1 FM and www.Sportsjuice.com) beginning at 6:40 p.m. John Walton has the call from New York’s state capital.
