HERSHEY closes out four games in five nights Sunday, hosting the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at
Giant Center. Face-off is slated for 5:00 p.m.
In a see-saw battle on Saturday night, the Adirondack Phantoms rallied in the final minute of regulation to tie the game, and ultimately won 5-4 in a shootout over the BEARS. Michael Dubuc scored his second goal in less than 24 hours against the Phantoms in the game’s first minute, while Darren Reid, Kyle Wilson and Andrew Gordon picked up single goals through regulation. Jason Bacashihua suffered the shootout setback as the Phantoms picked up a five-round skills competition victory.
It’s a very light day of action around the American Hockey League Sunday, with only three other games besides the BEARS and Penguins on the docket. The Hartford Wolf Pack travels to Bridgeport to face the Sound Tigers at the Arena at Harbor Yard, while the Portland Pirates visit Springfield to face the Falcons at Mass Mutual Center. The only other game Sunday features the Rochester Americans playing down the New York State Thruway in Syracuse against the Crunch. The Amerks begin play Sunday with the best record in the AHL.
The Penguins through Saturday’s game have lost 67 man-games due to injury, with 11 different players missing time since the start of the season. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton lost to HERSHEY 3-0 on October 9 at Wachovia Arena when Braden Holtby posted his first professional shutout, and also lost to the BEARS 3-1 at
Giant Center on November 14. The Penguins managed a 6-4 win against the Chocolate and White in Wilkes-Barre Township on October 23.
