BEARS READY FOR SOME HOME COOKING FRIDAY

November 12, 2009

HERSHEY returns home Friday night in first place in the East Division, taking on a much improved Norfolk Admirals team at 7:00 p.m. It has been a long and winding road for the Chocolate and White thus far this season with 10 of its first 15 games coming away from central PA. But with a quarter of the road schedule already in the rear view mirror for the BEARS, HERSHEY holds down first place in the East Division with a 10-5-0-0 record. Six of the final eight games during the month of November for Mark French’s club will be along HERSHEYPARK Drive, with road games in Binghamton and Adirondack the only times that the BEARS will board a bus to play a game. Two players that had been sidelined by injury practiced with the team this week, and at least one is expected to see game action this weekend. Steve Pinizzotto, who missed the team’s road trip to New England last week due to a mild concussion, is expected to return to the lineup Friday night. Grant McNeill, who last played against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the 2009 East Division Finals last spring, practiced with the team for the first time since ACL surgery this past May. McNeill’s timetable for returning to the lineup isn’t known, but he has been cleared to play. Around the East Division Friday, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton travels to Albany to face the River Rats at 7:00 p.m., while Binghamton heads to Adirondack to face the Phantoms at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Syracuse, the last place team in the East entering play Friday, is at home to play the Providence Bruins in central New York. Friday’s game can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (100.1 FM and www.Sportsjuice.com) beginning at 6:40 p.m. John Walton, Ed Coffey and Jim Jones have the call of the action from Giant Center.
