BEARS VISIT PORTLAND FRIDAY NIGHT TO FACE PIRATES

November 5, 2009

HERSHEY takes to the ice for the second leg of a four-game New England swing Friday night, taking on the Portland Pirates at the Cumberland County Civic Center. Face-off is set for 7:00 p.m. in the second and final meeting of the year between the two teams. The trip through the northeast got off to a good start Wednesday night, as the BEARS downed the Lowell Devils 5-2 at Paul Tsongas Arena. Keith Aucoin scored three times to pace the offense, while Alexandre Giroux and Andrew Gordon picked up three assists apiece. The win improved HERSHEY’S record to 8-4-0-0 on the year, putting the Chocolate and White in first place in the East Division by three points over the Adirondack Phantoms. The Pirates visited Giant Center back on October 25, with the BEARS rallying to win 3-2 in regulation. Steve Pinizzotto, who is not expected to play in Friday’s game due to injury, scored the game-winning goal against the Pirates in the third period while HERSHEY was short-handed. Around the East Division Friday night, the Albany River Rats will play host to the Lowell Devils at Times Union Center in New York’s Capital District. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton is back at home to face the Norfolk Admirals at Wachovia Arena at 7:05 p.m. Syracuse visits Rochester at Blue Cross Arena, while Binghamton takes on the Hamilton Bulldogs at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Friday’s game can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (100.1 FM and www.Sportsjuice.com) beginning at 6:40 p.m. eastern. John Walton has the call of the action from downtown Portland.
