HERSHEY will look to rebound after a loss to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Saturday as the Binghamton Senators come to call at
Giant Center. Face-off is at 7:00 p.m.
Adirondack, in its first year in Glens Falls, NY, took over first place Saturday night with a 3-2 win over Hartford. Coupled with HERSHEY and Albany losses Friday, the Phantoms now sit alone atop the East with nine points. The BEARS, River Rats and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins all sit just one point back of the East leaders with eight each. Binghamton, with a regulation loss at Syracuse and a Norfolk win over Portland Friday, fell into the East Division basement with just four points.
Right wing Andrew Gordon, who was playing with Alexandre Giroux and Keith Aucoin at the time of their recalls Thursday, is tied for third in the AHL in scoring entering play Saturday. Gordon played on a line Friday with Boyd Kane and Kyle Wilson, and has points in six of seven games to begin the season.
Around the AHL Saturday, the Adirondack Phantoms are on the road, taking on the Albany River Rats at Times Union Center, while Wilkes-Barre/Scranton opens up a four-game road trip in Bridgeport against the Sound Tigers. Elsewhere on Saturday, Toronto visits Grand Rapids, Lowell is at Hartford, Providence skates at Manchester, Springfield is at Worcester and Portland concludes a two-game series in Norfolk against the Admirals. In the Western Conference Saturday, Rochester is at Syracuse, Abbotsford is in Chicago to face Chris Chelios and the Wolves, Rockford is at Peoria, Houston is in San Antonio, Hamilton visits Texas and Manitoba is in Milwaukee.
