HERSHEY LOOKS FOR COMMANDING 3-1 LEAD SUNDAY

June 7, 2009

HERSHEY looks to take a commanding 3-1 lead in the series on Sunday, taking on the Manitoba Moose in Game 4 of the Calder Cup Finals. Face-off Sunday in front of a sold out GIANT Center crowd is set for 5:00 p.m. Coming home after a split of the first two games in Winnipeg, the BEARS treated their rabid fans to a terrific hockey showcase Saturday night. Scoring two power play goals in three chances, HERSHEY posted a 3-0 win in Game 3 to take a two games to one series lead. The win keeps hopes alive that the BEARS can win a Calder Cup on home ice for the first time since 1980. Graham Mink scored a first period power play marker that proved to be the game winner, and Michal Neuvirth did the rest by posting his fourth shutout of the 2009 postseason. Alexandre Giroux potted his 14th goal of the playoffs, tying Kris Beech’s franchise record for most goals in a single playoff year. Giroux also now has 74 goals regular season and playoffs combined, the most by any one American Hockey League player in the history of the circuit. On home ice, the Moose needed a Game 2 win to keep realistic hopes alive, and they got it in come-from-behind fashion. Now down two games to one, Manitoba is likely in that situation again on Sunday. The team from Winnipeg needs to win either Sunday or Tuesday to force the series back to MTS Centre for a potential Game 6 that would be north of the border on Friday night at 8:30 p.m. Sunday’s game will be carried on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio beginning at 5:00 p.m. Game 4 can be heard with the audio from the BEARS Radio Network throughout the United States and Canada on XM 204 and Sirius 208. Sunday’s Game 4 can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (100.1 FM, 1490 AM, Sportsjuice.com, AHLLive.com) beginning with the pregame show at 4:40 p.m. John Walton and Ed Coffey have the call of the action. While Game 4 is sold out, tickets remain for Tuesday’s Game 5, the final hockey game to be played in central PA this season. Call the GIANT Center box office for more information at (717) 534-3911.
