GAME 3 OF THE CALDER CUP FINALS SATURDAY AT GC

June 6, 2009

The BEARS return home for the final three games of the season at GIANT Center starting Saturday night. Game 3 of the Calder Cup Finals features HERSHEY and the Manitoba Moose tied at one game apiece in the best-of-seven AHL championship series. HERSHEY won Game 1 of the 2009 Calder Cup Finals one week ago, defeating Manitoba 5-4 in overtime at MTS Centre. The Moose would rally in Game 2 from a goal down in front of a partisan hometown crowd to defeat the BEARS 3-1 on Tuesday night. Manitoba tied the game in the second period at one before Jason Jaffray’s game winning goal in the final minute of regulation Tuesday. The win for the Moose sets the stage for high drama at GIANT Center over the next three games. Game 3 is Saturday at 7:00 p.m. along HERSHEYPARK Drive, with Game 4 coming quickly behind on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. The two teams will get a day of rest on Monday before playing Game 5 on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday’s game will be the final game of the season at GIANT Center, with the series shifting back to Winnipeg if neither team can claim all three games in central PA. Game 6 if needed would be next Friday night back at MTS Centre. The American Hockey League announced on Friday that Game 4 of the 2009 Calder Cup Finals will be picked up again by Sirius/XM Satellite Radio beginning at 5:00 p.m. John Walton and Ed Coffey will call the action nationwide in the United States and Canada on XM 204 and Sirius 208 from GIANT Center. Should a Game 6 and 7 be needed in the series, Sirius/XM would potentially air games from MTS Centre as well, with the feed provided by the Moose Hockey Network with Brian Munz and Chris Nielsen. HERSHEY, fighting for what would be its 10th Calder Cup title, takes on a Manitoba team in the Calder Cup Finals for the very first time. The BEARS are currently tied with the Cleveland Barons for the most Calder Cups won in American Hockey League history. Saturday’s Game 3 can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (100.1 FM, 1490 AM, Sportsjuice.com, AHLLive.com) beginning with the pregame show at 6:40 p.m. John Walton and Ed Coffey have the call of the action. Game 3 and Game 4 this weekend at GIANT Center are sold out; however there are a limited amount of tickets remaining for Tuesday’s Game 5. Call the GIANT Center box office for more information at (717) 534-3911.
