BEARS LOOK TO PUSH BRUINS TO THE BRINK SUNDAY

May 24, 2009

HERSHEY can move within a single win of the 2009 Calder Cup Finals Sunday evening as the BEARS take on the Providence Bruins in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Face-off at Dunkin Donuts Center is set for 7:05 p.m. The BEARS stunned the Bruins Friday night with a four goal third period and a 6-4 come-from-behind victory, lifting the Chocolate and White to a two games to one lead in the best-of-seven series. Graham Mink scored the game-winning goal on a tip of a Bryan Helmer shot midway through the third period, and Helmer then added a goal of his own to round out the scoring. 13 different HERSHEY skaters recorded at least a point in the comeback win, and the victory marked the first time in the 2009 Calder Cup playoffs that the boys from Chocolatetown won a game when trailing after two periods. It is no longer possible for Providence to win the series at Dunkin Donuts Center, the site of both Sunday’s Game 4 and Monday afternoon’s Game 5. HERSHEY regained home-ice advantage in the series by winning Friday night. If needed in the series, Game 6 would be Wednesday night at GIANT Center, although HERSHEY with a win both Sunday night and Monday afternoon could claim the series and the Eastern Conference Championship before returning to central PA. Meanwhile, the Manitoba Moose are having a hard time putting the Houston Aeros away in the 2009 Western Conference Final. Manitoba, who once led the series three games to none, now head back to Winnipeg to host Houston in Game 6 at MTS Centre Monday night. The Aeros won Game 4 in overtime and Game 5 in double OT to force the series back to the great white north. The winner of the Manitoba/Houston series will face either HERSHEY or Providence in the 2009 Calder Cup Finals. Sunday’s Game 4 can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (100.1 FM, 1490 AM, Sportsjuice.com, AHLLive.com) beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m. John Walton has the call of the action from Dunkin Donuts Center. The game can also be heard in the United States and Canada on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio on XM channel 204 and Sirius channel 208. Tickets are on sale now for HERSHEY’S next home playoff game. Call the GIANT Center box office for more information at (717) 534-3911.
