ONE MORE TIME: BEARS AND PENGUINS IN GAME 7 TUESDAY
05/12/2009 - The BEARS will try to advance to the 2009 Eastern Conference Finals Tuesday night in a winner take all Game 7 with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Face-off at GIANT Center is at 7:00 p.m. In this, the fifth meeting in postseason play between the I-81 rivals, Tuesday night marks the first time there has been a Game 7 involving HERSHEY and the Penguins. With no margin for error Sunday night, the BEARS scored first and never looked back in a 3-0 win over the Penguins in Game 6. Andrew Gordon scored the game-winning goal midway through the first period, with Darren Reid and Alexandre Giroux also providing markers along the way. Goaltender Michal Neuvirth earned his seventh win and second shutout of the 2009 postseason, making 30 saves. In a series that the home team has won every game, HERSHEY will host Wilkes-Barre/Scranton one more time along HERSHEYPARK Drive. Not only are the BEARS and Penguins meeting at the AHL level, Washington is also playing Pittsburgh in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Washington rallied to post a 5-4 overtime win Monday with former BEARS center David Steckel scoring the game winner. Game 7 in that series is Wednesday night at Verizon Center. The Providence Bruins are one win away from providing the opposition for the Pens or BEARS in the Atlantic Division Final after a 4-3 win Monday in Game 5 of that series. The Bruins can advance with a victory in Game 6 on Wednesday night in Worcester against the Sharks. Milwaukee has forced a Game 7 in its West Division Final with Houston after a dominating 7-0 win at the Bradley Center Monday night. The deciding game of that best-of-seven will be Wednesday night in Wisconsin.
