BEARS AND MANCHESTER BATTLE SUNDAY IN NEW HAMPSHIRE

The BEARS conclude a three-game New England road trip Sunday, taking on the Manchester Monarchs at Verizon Wireless Arena. Face-off is at 4:00 p.m. HERSHEY rallied from a three-goal deficit Saturday night to stun the Portland Pirates 5-4 at the Cumberland County Civic Center. Down 4-1 late in the second period, Alexandre Giroux would lead the charge with two goals and an assist to propel the comeback. The BEARS scored two goals in a 49 second span with less than two minutes remaining to earn the victory. The Chocolate and White needed the win, as the first place Bridgeport Sound Tigers also won Saturday at home against Providence. HERSHEY trails the Sound Tigers by one point with two games in hand heading into Sunday action. Manchester begins action Sunday tied with Portland for third place in the Atlantic Division despite being winless in its last four games. Fifth place Worcester is just two points behind the Pirates and Monarchs, and Lowell is only three points back of a playoff berth. All four teams have 11 games remaining. Around the East Division Sunday, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers play its 72nd game of the season at home against Portland. The Pirates, after falling to the BEARS Saturday, rode the bus to play at 4:00 p.m. Sunday in southern Connecticut. HERSHEY will still hold two games in hand on the Tigers after play concludes Sunday. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton is off Sunday. Philadelphia, after a shootout loss to Binghamton Saturday, travels to Albany to face the River Rats at 5:00 p.m. Sunday.
