Bears Win Sixth Straight

Oskar Osala notched two goals and received number one star honors Wednesday night, as HERSHEY defeated the Binghamton Senators by a score of 4-1.
The BEARS struck first, as Osala hammered the puck past Brian Elliott for his 14th of the year at 2:21. Francois Bouchard and Mathieu Perreault added the assists. Keith Aucoin potted his ninth goal of the season on a power play tally from Alexandre Giroux and Osala at 6:13. Brian Lee answered for Binghamton, firing a screamer from the point at 11:53. HERSHEY carried a 2-1 lead to the dressing room after one.
Giroux would score the only goal of the second period, notching his 13th of the year at 17:01, assisted by Patrick McNeill and Aucoin. Simeon Varlamov made 10 saves to keep the Senators off the board in the second. The BEARS held a two-goal advantage after 40 minutes of play.
The home team would round out scoring for the night as Osala tallied his second of the night and 15th of the season at 5:17 of the third. Bouchard and Perreault recorded the helpers.
The BEARS went 2-for-6 on the power play and out-shot Binghamton 31-24. Varlamov made 23 saves en-route to his seventh win in net this season.
Notes: The Bears now head to Albany to take on the River Rats Friday night at 7:00 p.m. HERSHEY then returns home this weekend to face Philadelphia and Norfolk Saturday and Sunday at GIANT Center. Washington recalled forwards Graham Mink and Chris Bourque as well as defensemen Karl Alzner and Sami Lepisto Wednesday. All four played against the Atlanta Thrashers Wednesday, with Alzner making his NHL debut. The BEARS on Wednesday recalled forwards Michael Dubuc and Maxime Lacroix as well as defenseman Sasha Pokulok from South Carolina. The Norfolk Admirals Wednesday acquired former BEARS winger Grant Potulny from the San Antonio Rampage in exchange for future considerations.
