Capitals Recall Michal Neuvirth from Hershey

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have recalled goaltender Micahl Neuvirth from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.

Neuvirth, 21, has split this season between Washington and Hershey. He has compiled an 8-4-0 record, 2.75 goals-against average and .911 save percentage with the Capitals. Neuvirth has won three straight for Washington and is eligible to play tonight against the Atlanta Thrashers.

Neuvirth was assigned to Hershey on Jan. 31 and played for the Bears that night after spending nearly two months in Washington. He made 32 saves in guiding Hershey to a 6-1 win against Binghamton in his only start for the Bears during his most recent assignment. For the season, Neuvirth has posted an 11-5-0 record with a 1.92 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage. He was selected to the AHL All-Star Game but was unable to participate because he was with Washington.

Goaltender Braden Holtby was also assigned to HERSHEY Friday.
